In-House Production

Industrial Forging and Metallurgy

Every Steggert tool begins as certified domestic carbon steel billet. We forge, mill, and quench entirely within our Pennsylvania machine shop to guarantee zero component play under severe torque.

Salt-Bath Quench

We mill exclusively from 1095 and 4140 carbon bar stock, checking core metallurgy and grain orientation before introducing any heat.

Pound-for-pound compaction under closed dies aligns crystalline grain flow, yielding structural density that standard casting or stamping cannot duplicate.

Machining centers cut mating channels, pivot seats, and hex sockets to tolerances within plus-minus 0.002 inches on all bearing surfaces.

Liquid nitrate immersion followed by precision tempering establishes a 60 to 62 HRC hardness along primary grinds without brittleness.

Grind Geometry

Tolerances and Grip Ergonomics

Cutting edges receive compound bevel grinds executed on wet ceramic platens, preventing temper degradation while establishing an apex angle engineered for clean chip clearance.

Handles feature deep cross-hatch knurling milled directly into solid steel stock, providing immediate mechanical purchase through oil, coolant, or heavy leather shop gloves.

Workshop Tool Sets

Standard sets ship immediately from our Pennsylvania warehouse inventory, while custom fleet runs and dedicated shop batches are machined to order.
